La Ranca

La Ranca is a charming two storied small house that has been meticulously renovated to provide very comfortable accommodation for four people in two double bedrooms with two bathrooms.  The property forms part of the original 17th century farmhouse that was built on a wooded hillside in the Antognolla estate in Umbria.  The original farmhouse has now been imaginatively converted and divided into two separate and totally independent houses.

La Ranca is at one end of the old farmhouse and has its own private garden and terraces with uninterrupted views from the end of the house across the valley to Antognolla castle. This historic castle was created out of a 12th century Benedictine monastery.

The main entrance to La Ranca leads from its own private garden directly into the sitting room.

This room is comfortably furnished with two armchairs and a sofa. There is a satellite TV, CD player and telephone in this cosy room. All the windows in La Ranca are double glazed and there are attractive wrought iron gates on all exterior doors.

The floors are tiled with handmade terracotta and there are massive ceiling oak beams throughout the house. Steps from the sitting room lead down into the large kitchen and dining area.

The kitchen is extremely well equipped with a 4 ring gas top stove, a microwave, a refrigerator, a dishwasher and a washing machine. Attractive glazed tiles from the local area provide the back drop to the generous working surfaces.

The dining table can be extended to seat eight people. There is a wood burning stove here to compliment the house’s central heating for those chillier winter evenings. A door leads out onto an external terrace for those al fresco meals during the sultry summer evenings and days

The second bedroom has two single beds (which can be made up as a queen sized double bed if requested). There is also a single fold-away bed. The bathroom next door has a bath tub and shower, basin, bidet and loo.

Another door from the sitting room leads out to the back of the house and onto a further terrace for yet more al fresco meals and lazy afternoon naps!

La Ranca has a superb 18-hole Robert Trent Jones designed golf course nearby.  The construction of the golf course itself has already been completed and this is now an integral part of the landscape of olive groves and cypress trees.  It does not intrude in any way upon the peace and tranquillity of the farmhouse setting.  The Antognolla castle is currently being transformed into the centre piece of this new golfing gem in the centre of Italy and once this renovation is complete the course will be opened to the public.

Bathrooms: 2. One ensuite and one adjoining the second bedroom, both with bath/shower, loo, bidet and basin.
