Italian Encounters™ provides a small choice selection of very special places to stay in Tuscany and Umbria.
We created Italian Encounters after restoring our own home in Tuscany during the early 1990s and continue to personally manage our family business which specialises in this magical part of Italy. We have quite intentionally restricted the overall numbers of the properties that are available so we can maintain a personal and individual service to both our guests and to our property owners.

Most of our properties are located close to the Upper Tiber Valley near the Tuscany Umbria border, just north of Lago Trasimeno. Many are in or around the renowned Niccone valley, centred on Mercatale di Cortona, and a few are a bit further south near the celebrated town of Todi.
Our properties include castles, cottages, villas, towers, farmhouses and water mills and provide a range of accommodation from romantic hideaways for two people to palatial palazzos for families. They are all located in stunning rural settings and they all have something special. Please click onto the image of The Tower for details about each property.

All our properties are close to the historical gems of both Tuscany & Umbria. You really are at the heart of cultural Italy here and will be spoilt for choice when it comes to places to explore. Arezzo, Assisi, Citta di Castello, Cortona, Gubbio, Montepulciano, Montefalco, Orvieto, Perugia, Pienza, Sansepolcro, Siena, Spello, Spoleto, and Todi, to name just a few of the local sights, are all a short drive away. Firenze and Roma are also easily accessible as well.
The area contains a profusion of architectural and artistic places of interest, art galleries, museums, musical festivals, restaurants, sporting facilities and stunning panoramas & views ~ more than enough to satisfy every possible aspiration. Above all else life meanders at a gentle, indulgent and leisurely pace here and it really is a very special place to stay at any time of the year. Click onto this photo of the Basilica di San Francesco for guidance to some of the sights not to be missed in the local area.
